Feast of the Holy Name of Mary (12 Sept 2012)

Today, September 12, we celebrate if we wish the optional memorial of the Holy Name of Our Lady, four days after the feast of her birthday.

And with much regret, I want to tell you that I am discontinuing the Catholic Daily Message as of today.  It may be that someone else will take it on and continue it the days to come.  I am doing this because it seems only fair to my readers not to have them looking for a daily message and finding none.  Even though on some days I feel quite  well and capable of putting thoughts together, there are others when that is not the case, and I feel pulled between a sort of obligation to produce the CDM and unable to come up with anything that seems worthwhile.  I have been doing these since the fall of 1971, with the exception of a two-year hiatus when I was stationed in Atlanta and found it difficult to do them.  That’s about 39 years, and my health makes me think it’s time to stop.

I want to thank my three main “publicity agents”: Shelly Wild in New Orleans, Ray Blackwood in Houston, and Martin Notzon in San Antonio for their VERY faithful promulgation of these messages.  And then all of you who have sent them to family and friends of yours, some of whom I don’t even know, or know about!  If there was any value in these messages, then all of you have a share in its spread.  Often I have received expressions of appreciation from my readers (or hearers, when I was using the telephone line); your encouragement was the main motivation for my continuing of the daily messages, and I thank you for it.

The good Lord bless you in the holy names of Jesus and Mary.  Let us pray for each other.  Father Victor Brown, O.P.

Please Note:  In the near future, we will start posting CDMs based on our archives.  Or in other words, a “best of CDM.”
